The first written mention of the Lürzer name was made by Bernhardus lurzarius in 1218.
In 1506, the Lürzer family was granted a coat of arms by King Maximilian I.
The origin of the Lürzer name: Lürzer estate in Taurach, municipality of Untertauern.
Different spellings of the name of the family and the estate exist: lurzarius (approx. 1228), Lurtzer (approx. 1290), Lurczer (approx. 1300.), Lurzer (25/03/1319), Luerczer (06/04/1354), Lurczer (13/10/1410), dy lürtz (approx. 1430), Lurczer (04/01/1444), Lurtzarii (approx. 1420), Lürtzer. All the different variations of the name had settled into the version Lürzer, still in use today, by the end of the 15th century. By now, the family chronicle has reached its 3rd edition.
